When I started to write this, I assumed it would be another "same-old, same old" summer week. But there's actually some variety, several filmmakers on hand, even a chance to see "Total Recall" at 9:30 in the morning.

Enjoy.

Check out my Twitter feed (@bostonfreefilms) for any updates.

Highlights:

* I don't usually mention events with no film announced, but the Summer School at Harvard is wrapping up their foreign film series. Seems they didn't put out a very good schedule (and attendance suffered). Tonight, they will be showing a film from Latin America, but I can't find the name (and they didn't follow up with their promised newsletter). If it's anything like last week's Russian movie, it will be interesting and novel.
* Brookline Library will screen "Bridge and Prejudice" on Monday.
* The BPL Copley Square Monday Night Film Series continues with "Last Song".
* Harvard Foreign Film Festival will show "Mughal-E-Azam" on Monday night.
* On Tuesday, the BPL South Boston Cinema Confidential Film Series continues with "Kansas City Confidential".
* Harvard Ukrainian Film Series continues on Tuesday with "Ukraine. When the Countdown Began".
* The Coolidge Corner Theatre will hold a special screening of the Japanese series "Panty & Stocking" on Tuesday. 18+
* On Wednesday morning, Studio Crossings in Waltham will screen the movie "Total Recall". RSVP required.
* The BPL Honan-Allston Midday Movie on Wednesday is "To Be or Not to Be".
* The Brookline Putterham Branch midday movie on Wednesday is "The Artist"
* Wednesday, the BPL West End will screen "Iron Man".
* The Berklee College Library will show "All Ages: The Boston Hardcore Film" with the filmmakers present on Wednesday.
* The BPL North End Summer Films Series kicks off with "(500) Days of Summer" on Wednesday.
* Harvard Journalism Film Series continues on Wednesday with "His Girl Friday".
* The Lucy Parsons Center Radical Film Night continues on Wednesday with "The Eternal Frame" & "Media Burn".
* Boston Cyberarts Gallery will screen "Moleman 2: The Art of the Algorithms" with the filmmaker on Wednesday. RSVP required.

Sorry for taking a week off last week... illness got the best of me (and it's still lingering).

Now we have to savor every free film opportunity as the usual providers of most of our free films are chilling out for the summer. The libraries and other non-profits will pitch in, but you won't have as many nights where you have to chose what free film you want to see. Since these may be coming from non-traditional sources, keep your eyes peeled for last minute additions.

Enjoy.

It's not the end of the school year, but you can see it from here. Because of Monday's holiday, we have a lighter schedule this week and the coming end of the school year means fewer film opportunities. Hurry before you have to go outside at night to watch films.

Enjoy.
